  1. MUG SHOT: Illamasqua love! DWS, Muse, Boosh and Rampage

    March 7, 2011 by pam

I’m already crazy about so many polish brands – Rescue Beauty Lounge, Chanel, Butter London, MAC. I shouldn’t be falling in love with another one.

    But I couldn’t help it.

And you have Illamasqua to blame.

    14

    Illamasqua. And Kaydi Kat.

    30

She sent me four awesome Illamasqua bottles.

    32

And after swatching them, I am completely in love.

    9

And now I’m sad because you can’t buy Illamasqua in Manila. And I ignored Illamasqua all those times I went to Sephora in the US. And I didn’t use the discount code Illamasqua sent me when I made the shortlist for the Nail Varnish Competition. Sob.

But Illamasqua and I will make up for the lost time.

    Here’s DWS.

    10

    I love this cement gray.

    1

It reminds me of MAC Hello Kitty On The Prowl, another polish I love.

    2

Yes, I can’t get enough of gray creams.

    3

I already have too many grays.

    4

And DWS climbed the list of my favorite grays.

    6

DWS is a medium gray cream.

    7

    It’s super creamy.

    8

    This was two coats.

    5

    Here’s Muse.

    11

Illamasqua describes this as a deep teal blue.

    m4

And that’s exactly what it is.

    m5

I had a very long teal phase

    m7

and I thought I was over it.

    m9

    But Muse changed my mind.

    m11

    And you can’t blame me.

    m12

    It’s creamy, smooth and pretty.

    m8

    This was two coats.

    m10

DWS and Muse are pretty but these next two polishes are the reason I fell in love with Illamasqua.

    Here is Illamasqua Boosh.

    12

Illamasqua describes it as a glossy pure black.

    b1

And yes, that’s what it is.

    b2

You know about my deep love for black polish.

    b3

And before Boosh, I was happy with my favorite black polishes in the world – Chanel Black Satin and Zoya Raven.

    b4

    But that’s changed.

    b5

Because Boosh is now my favorite black polish in the world.

    b6

And that’s pretty crazy because few things come between me and my beloved Chanels.

    b10

But that just shows how powerful Boosh is.

    b11

The girls on MakeupAlley were right. It is freaking awesome.

    b12

This was two coats – although they say you can get away with just one.

    b13

    Ahh Boosh. So freaking glossy.

    b9

    I am in awe.

    b7

I did not think Rampage would be my favorite of the bunch.

    13

I was obsessed with green polish for a really long time but like my teal phase, I thought it was over.

    r1

But Rampage just made me crazy over green again.

    r2

And why shouldn’t I go crazy?

    r3

Look at how amazing it is.

    r10

    Three coats of amazing.

    r11

I’ve read so many great things about Rampage – so many people have raved about it.

    r15

But all the raving did not prepare me for how gorgeous it really is.

    r8

The formula, the finish, the smoothness – so freaking perfect.

    r14

I wish this kind of perfection came in every color.

    r5

The pictures of the bottle prove how much I love this polish. Look at my fingerprints all over – it’s like I couldn’t stop touching it.

    r7

    And I really couldn’t.

    r12

Thank you, Illamasqua, for creating the perfect green jelly.

    r4

Thank you, Kaydi Kat, for bringing Rampage into my life.

    r9

My Illamasqua wish list is now a mile long. My wallet is scared but I’m too happy to care.

Illamasqua is available on Sephora’s website and Illamasqua.com.

  2. MUG SHOT: China Glaze Custom Kicks and Secret Peri-winkle

    August 31, 2010 by pam

I just realized that I haven’t been showing China Glaze too much love here which is strange.

When my polish obsession started, China Glaze is one of the first brands I stocked up on. And it still is one of my favorite brands today.

China Glaze may have its share of neutrals and light pinks but it also has a lot of fun and unique colors, colors you would never refer to as boring.

    Like Custom Kicks.

    custom6

Custom Kicks is a bright teal with a gold shimmer.

    custom3

The shimmer is more obvious in the bottle than on the nail.

    custom4

But I still think it’s pretty.

    custom1

I love it. It’s such a bright happy color.

    custom2

Another China Glaze polish I love is Secret Peri-winkle.

    peri4

    This was two coats.

    peri3

I should have done three but didn’t realize it until I saw these photos.

    peri2

Yeah, three would have been perfect.

I used Claire’s Matte Top Coat on Secret Peri-winkle.

    peri5

Yeah, it rocks as a matte too.

    peri7

But damn it, I really should have gone for three coats.
