My favorite Deborah Lippmann sales associate in Rustan’s Shangri-La texted me about a promo they are running. For every P3500 you spend, you get a free nail kit. I am very very tempted to rush over there – my Lippmann wish list is crazy long.
Deborah is famous for her glitter but the truth is, her non-sparkly shades are fab too. Like these two: Modern Love and Call Me Irresponsible.
Modern Love came out for Fall 2012. Deborah describes this as “modern classic mauve creme.”
It’s a dusty mauve creme, a pretty nude shade with hints of taupe. It’s a lovely, clean-looking shade, one that’s office-safe and would go with every outfit. Application was nice and easy, I used two coats.
I pulled out these nudes to compare.
Dior Incognito is a lot more pink, RBL Grunge is more beige and Chanel Rose Confidentiel is a rose pink. None of these shades have Modern Love’s mauve and dusty qualities.
Call Me Irresponsible was one of my first Lippmann lemmings. Deborah describes this as a “vivacious violet.”
Call Me Irresponsible is a purple jelly. And if you love buildable jellies, you will love this. After three coats it still didn’t look like the bottle color on my nails. I think one more coat would have done it but I loved the way this looked so much that I stopped at three. Such a squishy squishy jelly mani. I should use this to make a jelly sandwich soon.
I brought out some of my favorite purples to compare.
While in their bottles they look similar to Call Me Irresponsible, on the nails they are completely different. NARS New York Dolls, Dior Ultraviolet and RBL Mismas – all these shades are cremes, not jellies. And they all require just two coats to achieve bottle color. I love all four of these shades. They’re all super pretty.
