MUG SHOT: Nail tattoos, decals, stickers and more from Louxurious Manila

December 4, 2012 by pam

A few months ago, Angeline Yao of Louxurious Manila contacted me on Instagram because she wanted me to try her products.

She sent me a whole box of goodies along with this sweet note.

The box was full of awesomeness.

louxurious2

Nail tattoos and nail stickers.

louxurious3

I love these.

louxurious4

Betty Boop! I love Betty Boop!

louxurious5

Nail patches.

louxurious6

Nail polish.

louxurious8

She even sent me these super small and super cute nail files.

These past months have been so crazy that I haven’t had the chance to try Louxurious Manila’s products until recently. I’m so glad I finally did because I had so much fun with them.

I was most excited about the nail tattoos so I tried them first. The design I picked was NT-Spring.

It was my first time to try nail tattoos so I was a little worried about doing it right. It turned out to be surprisingly easy.

Step one: cut the tattoos to fit your nails. I seriously suck at using scissors – I can’t cut straight even with a guide – but I did just fine. Because I have small nails, I had to snip away the edges of the tattoos as well.

louxurious10

Step two: dunk the tattoo in water for about 10 to 20 seconds. Make sure it doesn’t stay in the water too long or it will become soggy. You’ll know it’s ready when the tattoo separates easily from its paper backing when you hold it.

louxurious11

Step three: apply the tattoo to your nail. Make sure the surface is flat – no air bubbles, no ridges.

louxurious12

Step four: File away the excess tattoo. Because the water made the tattoo slippery, getting it to stay in place while filing away the excess tattoo was the trickiest bit for me. You need to be careful too and make sure you don’t leave ragged edges. I struggled at first but all I needed was a little practice.

louxurious13

Step five: Repeat steps one to four on your other nails.

louxurious15

Step six: Apply top coat.

louxurious14

And now you’re ready to flaunt your tattooed nails.

louxurious16

I’ve become an instant fan of Louxurious Manila’s nail tattoos.

louxurious18

They’re fun to apply.

louxurious17

They’re instant nail art. And the best part? It doesn’t matter if you have zero nail art skills like me.

louxurious20

Love love love.

louxurious21

Now I can’t wait to try the other designs.

louxurious22

Next I brought out the polish bottles Louxurious Manila sent me.

louxurious9

I started with Aika, a beautiful vibrant shade of purple.

louxurious23

I really like this color.

louxurious25

Application was problem-free. I used two coats.

louxurious27

Then I decided I wanted to play with the nail stickers too.

louxurious28

I was so excited I messed up in two ways – one, I didn’t wait for the polish to be completely dry and two, I accidentally placed the sticker on the side of my nail and not the middle.

louxurious30

And because the polish wasn’t completely dry yet, when I tried lifting the sticker again, it lifted some of the polish with it. So I decided to leave it alone.

louxurious29

I still like the way it turned out though.

louxurious31

I reapplied Aika and gave it another go. This time, I added cherry blossom stickers and a coat of Ange (big gold glitter set in a clear base) on my pinky.

louxurious33

And I added Ange to my other nail too.

louxurious35

Louxurious Manila’s nail polish are all rose-scented. I like that the scent isn’t overpowering – it’s very subtle.

louxurious36

And finally, I tried Lou, a beautiful shimmery silvery gold polish with blue glitter.

louxurious39

This is probably usually worn as a top coat but I decided to try and make it go opaque. Because yeah, I’m crazy. It took multiple coats – five I think – and I was happy with the result.

louxurious38

The shimmer is crazy. I couldn’t stop staring at my nails.

louxurious40

The best part about Louxurious Manila? Everything is super affordable. Nail tattoos are ₱60 per strip (that’s 12 tattoos per strip) or ₱150 for 3 strips. Nail decals are the same price – ₱60 per sheet or ₱150 for 3 sheets. Nail polish is ₱100 each.
