MUG SHOT: NARS Manosque, Koh Lanta, Lal Mirchi and Night Clubbing

August 25, 2012 by pam

It’s good to be back.

It sucks that so many things have been going on these past weeks that I’ve been left with no time to swatch or blog. It sucks super hard because I have so many great things to show you.

I finally managed to steal some swatching time twice this week – still not as much as I would like but enough for me to be able to promise that you’ll be seeing this blog updated more often in these coming days, as it should be.

And the next time you get tired of hitting refresh and seeing no update from me, you can turn to Instagram for bite-sized servings of Polish Police – a couple of bottles here, a mani there and awesome nail mail.

But right now, I have swatches. NARS swatches.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge NARS fan. (The upcoming Andy Warhol collection makes me want to squeal in excitement.) And so today, I will be showing you four of my newest NARS shades.

Thanks to my beloved Petah, these babies traveled from New York to Manila some weeks back.

They’re a mix of colors from different collections.

Let’s start with Manosque.

narsswatches4

Manosque was one of the two shades released exclusively with matching Marc Jacobs gloves for Holiday 2011. The sets were available at NARS’ Bleecker St. boutique in New York. I almost cried when I read about the sets because I went to Bleecker twice around the time of their release but I only found out about the sets after I got back to Manila.

narsswatches6

I prayed and I prayed and I prayed that they would be released separately and, luckily, they were. I found Manosque on the NARS website and Petah helped me buy it.

narsswatches9

NARS describes Manosque as a “deep smoky lavender.”

narsswatches12

That’s accurate.

narsswatches14

Depending on the light, I can see hints of gray and brown in this polish.

narsswatches21

I love it.

narsswatches23

Lovely formula too.

narsswatches25

I used two coats.

narsswatches26

This is Koh Lanta.

narsswatches31

Koh Lanta is one of three shades released last year as NARS Nordstrom Exclusives. But while I picked up Matto Grosso, I decided to skip Koh Lanta and Vestale.

narsswatches32

Months later, I changed my mind and decided I needed it in my collection too.

narsswatches37

And that was a good decision.

narsswatches34

NARS describes Koh Lanta as “deep purple.”

narsswatches38

Yup, that’s what it is. A pretty, creamy deep purple that would rock on your fingers and toes.

narsswatches42

I used two coats.

narsswatches44

This is Lal Mirchi.

narsswatches46

This shade was part of the Thakoon for NARS collection but it was sold exclusively at the Bleecker St. store. Petah my polish elf came to the rescue. He went to the store and picked up bottles of Lal Mirchi for me and Miss Bun.

narsswatches56

My Thakoon for NARS collection is now complete.

narsswatches59

NARS describes this shade as “Mandarin red.”

narsswatches68

Lal Mirchi is an attention-grabbing bright red-orange.

narsswatches61

I love its intensity.

narsswatches69

Fantastic formula too.

narsswatches74

I used two coats.

narsswatches76

Night Clubbing was the other shade released with Marc Jacobs gloves.

I really really wanted it – I was so tempted to buy the set even if I live in a tropical country where no one wears gloves. But it was sold out.

narsswatches78

So you can imagine how happy I was when I found out it was available on the NARS site. I needed it to complete my NARS Night Series collection.

narsswatches80

Night Clubbing is even more beautiful than I expected.

narsswatches82

NARS describes it as “black with gold pearls.”

narsswatches87

But the base didn’t look black to me – it was more of a complex blackened purplish gray brown similar to Chanel Vertigo with really fine gold shimmer.

narsswatches88

I love love love Night Clubbing.

narsswatches84

It dries a little dull but your top coat will bring out its beautiful shimmer.

narsswatches85

The formula was great, application super easy.

narsswatches89

I used two coats.

These shades are available on the NARS website. In the Philippines, NARS is available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source.
