POLICE FILES: A Dior Les Violets Hypnotiques sneak peek (yes, Dior is trying to drive us all crazy)

January 13, 2012 by pam

Seriously, Dior, what are you trying to do?

Last year, the brand released twenty-seven nail polish shades. Twenty-seven. Two seven. Twenty-freaking-seven.

Let’s count them.

There was the Gris City Collection which included Gris Montaigne, Bond Street and NY 57th. Then came the Spring Collection with Gris Montaigne (again) and Pink Boa. And the awesome Rock Your Nails Collection – Nirvana, Blue Label, Perfecto, Purple Mix, Underground and the Rock Coat. The fantastic Aloha and Paradise sets with the top coat I’ve fallen in love with. The three shades of the Les Rouges Collection – Trafalgar, Gruau G and Icone. The elusive Saint Tropez. Blue Denim, Safari Beige and Tuxedo from the Blue Tie Collection. Camel and Ebony from the Mitzah Collection. Or Divin, Exquis, Merveille and Appart for Holiday 2011. And finally, Silver Lake and Swan.

Dior released 27 shades in 2011 and I own 20 of them.

And I’m still not done tracking down Bond Street, Trafalgar, Gruau G, Icone and Swan.

It was a phenomenal year for Dior polish-wise. And I have a feeling the brand is planning to outdo themselves in 2012.

Because the year has barely started and it’s already released two fantastic collections – Dior Garden Party for Spring 2012 and the Dior Anselm Reyle Collection. I am waiting for my bottles to arrive – I got both shades from Garden Party and three of the five Anselm Reyle Collection colors (thank you, Tatin, my awesome enabler) – and they haven’t even landed yet but I’m already lusting over a new Dior collection.

I had heard rumors of Dior releasing a set of purples, like they released a set of reds last year. I realized they weren’t just rumors when an awesome Polish Police reader (who uses the name “hello” in the comments section) sent me a link to a fantastic website that shows a sneak peek of the collection. Naturally I want to share it with you.

Dior lovers and polish fans, say hello to Dior’s Les Violets Hypnotiques Collection.

It’s gorgeous.

With this collection, the brand celebrates a color that Christian Dior describes as “a demanding and sophisticated shade,” “the king of colours” and “a weapon of seduction.”

The site intro is super fun and yes, hypnotic.

I was totally mesmerized.

I sent Tatin the link and she started translating the French text into English. She’s awesome and crazy.

The collection includes three “hypnotic, elegant and captivating” limited edition purples.

There’s Orchid, “a sensual, luminous aubergine shade.”

diorpurples6

Shadow, “an intense shimmering purple.”

diorpurples7

And Poison, “a deep enchanting purple” that was inspired by the bottle of Dior’s Poison Fragrance.

Tatin said, “You have to get Poison! I mean, I’m sure you’ll get all, pero Poison!”

She’s right. I will get them all.

Seriously, Dior, what are you trying to do?

But I’m not complaining, not at all.

The Les Violets Hypnotiques Collection will be available starting February 12 at the Christian Dior boutique at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris and at selected retailers worldwide.

Be hypnotized HERE.

    Oh my LORD.

Dior is fast becoming my favorite brand of polish. It was Essie, Chanel and Zoya (in that order) but in recent months (I got hooked after Perfecto) I’ve REALLY grown to love Dior.

I’m not a purple girl, but Orchid and Poison are NOT helping. I might just be a purple girl now. OMG.

VERY good work, Chief. Loving your news as always

Dior is really competing for our attention, I swear! It has shot up my list of favorite brands too! 2011 was really a fantastic year for Dior polish!

And awesome to know you’re loving purple! (Meanwhile, I have you to thank for rekindling my love for all kinds of red polish!)

Are you trying to kill me? Seriously? I missed out on most of Dior’s releases – not because I didn’t try to get them, but mainly because they never became available where I am and wherever I found them online, did not & would not ship to Canada NO MATTER HOW MUCH I BEGGED!!! And now you reveal this? Oy!!! Another mission ahead!!!

Dior’s out of my price range, but Pam, this collection has your name written all over it! :D

Ah, ah…Fantastic !! You made me discover last season the UNIQUE AND UNFORGETABLE Nars Galion on your blog, so I am so glad I told you about les nouveaux Violets de Dior. I can’t wait for this release !! You are so right about Dior trying to drive us crazy with fantastic nail polish shades, I didn’t realize they launched that many in 2011. Tuxedo and Gris Montaigne made my year. But I missed the Rock Collection, and I must definitely get some of these shades, especially Purple Mix. I love your blog, it is so edgy, sparkling and funny !!

    • pam says:

Thank you so much again! :)

NARS Galion! Gorgeousness, I’m still in love it :)

I’m excited (and a little scared) to see how many shades they will release this year!

  8. Xstina says:

Oh my! They are gorgeous!! I will be getting the entire collection when it comes out.

Btw Pam, you can still find Trafalgar & Gruau at the Dior located in the palazzo at Vegas. You can ask for massiel or nelly and they will do a charge send. I just got mine there last month. :)

    • pam says:

      Hi Xstina!

      Awesome! Me too!

Thanks for the tip! I’ve heard great things about the Dior ladies at Palazzo but have never tried ordering from them! I would have loved to order the reds from there but my friend Tatin just found the colors for me in Taiwan! :D

I can’t wait to see them! Thanks again!

  9. Jacelyn says:

Have any idea when is it coming to Singapore?
