I know what you’re thinking. Finally, some swatches!
There’s been a lot of buzz online about Chanel Enthusiast these past few weeks. The reason? This iconic red suddenly resurfaced on the Neiman Marcus website. Chanel fanatics rushed to order the shade and the color has disappeared from the site again.
Holler if you think I’m wrong but Google tells me that Chanel Enthusiast first came out as a limited edition release in 2009.
I got my bottle of Enthusiast earlier this year, with the Chanels my friend Miko helped me buy from a seller in Singapore.
It’s my favorite of the bunch and yes, it has instantly become one of my all-time favorite reds.
And I’m sure you can see why.
And I’m sure you can’t blame me.
Enthusiast is a bright red orange polish.
This color just pops.
I love it not just for the color but the formula.
It’s so rich that you can get away with just one coat. But I used two.
Application was easy, the formula is flawless.
It’s super smooth and dries super glossy.
I love it.
I wanted to play with Enthusiast a little so I brought out Beige D’Or, a sparkly oldie but goodie from 2006.
It’s not really a top coat but I wanted to try anyway.
This is Chanel Enthusiast with a coat of Beige D’Or.
I like how it makes Enthusiast look completely different.
Beige D’Or’s gold sheen brings out the orange in Enthusiast.
It’s pretty too but I like Enthusiast on its own much more.

Very pretty! Is it dupey to RBL Bangin’? Love that layered look, too!!
Hey Kat! I have Bangin’ on my toes now! You think they’d be dupes but when placed side by side, you can see a tinge of pink in Bangin’ that Enthusiast just doesn’t have. It’s a straight up orangey red.
Dior did the same thing with Aloha, it’s currently available on their website! (and free shipping!)
And NY57th!
I love love love Aloha! And this makes me happy because more people deserve to have it in their life!
I love Dior’s polish so much but I just wish they had a better system – the same thing happened with the three reds they released earlier this year. By the time they announced it on Facebook, some had disappeared from the website. St. Tropez was crazy too – the list of stores they released wasn’t accurate, the New York store didn’t carry it, it was so hard to find. I wish they could disseminate info on their collections and colors in a more organized way. I know some shades are limited edition but it doesn’t mean it has to feel like a scavenger hunt.
Just yesterday, my daughter was telling me that she wanted to wear the perfect red shade for Christmas, and while I pulled out about a zillion to show her, none of them rocked her boat; now you show this, and I’m floored! Naturally, I will have to try and hunt it down and here’s the weird part: I have been picking up Chanel polishes for over 20 years now, and thought I had my finger on the pulse of things, but you proved me wrong with this beauty – never even heard of it…and I call myself a beauty blogger: HA!! Thanks for this, my friend!
20 years of Chanel?! OMG Eugenia! That’s amazing! I would love to see your Chanel collection, you must have amazing shades! I wish I discovered the joys of Chanel polish earlier! I’ve only been collecting for two years!
I found Enthusiast purely by luck, I swear. I didn’t know it existed too until I saw it on Ebay! It is a gorgeous red shade! But then again, Chanel is a gold mine for gorgeous reds – I love Dragon too and Pirate and Rouge Carat and Lotus Rouge… I can go on and on… Haha! I hope your daughter finds the perfect Christmas red soon! <3
Two comments – one, LOVE Enthusiast! What a perfect orange-red, it looks amazing on your skintone!
Two – I have been reading your blog for a couple weeks now, and I’m struck by how well you merge product info and swatches with your own personal life, making it all such an interesting read. Just a really lovely blog
Hi Latoya! Thanks so much, I love Enthusiast too!
And I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying the blog! I really like seeing how nail polish becomes a part of people’s lives and yes, I enjoy showing how the different shades become a part of mine too
