MUG SHOT: Etude House glitter bombs

August 30, 2011 by pam

If you hate glitter, look away now.

You will see enough glitter in this post to drive you crazy.

If you love glitter, keep scrolling.

You will see enough glitter in this post to drive you crazy.

And I mean in a good way.

The three sparkle bombs I will show you today all come from the glitter factory that is Etude House.

etudeglitter1

My jaw dropped when these bottles first landed in my hands.

etudeglitter2

Holy glitter gods!

etudeglitter3

They are craaaazy.

etudeglitter5

This is Lucidarling Fantastic Nails Spangle #05.

etudeglitter6

#05 is pink hexagon glitter in a clear base.

etudeglitter7

This is Lucidarling Fantastic Nails Spangle #06.

etudeglitter8

#06 is purple hexagon glitter in a clear base.

etudeglitter9

This is Lucidarling Fantastic Nails Spangle #07

etudeglitter10

#07 is blue hexagon glitter in a clear base.

etudeglitter11

I knew instantly I’d need to layer these over another polish. I know some girls like wearing a solid glitter mani but not me.

I thought PP911, a pretty deep lilac from Etude House might work.

etudeglitter12

Preview’s Agoo Bengzon gave me this bottle.

etudeglitter13

I love it.

etudeglitter14

You’d want to apply the glitter polish carefully, especially if you want only a smattering of sparkle.

etudeglitter15

You will end up with too much if you don’t carefully swirl the polish brush inside the neck of the bottle before applying.

etudeglitter16

I decided to apply a coat of each glitter.

etudeglitter17

The result was crazy.

etudeglitter18

Next, I decided to bring out three shades that matched the three glitter colors perfectly.

etudeglitter19

Barry M Strawberry Ice Cream.

etudeglitter20

Barry M Berry Ice Cream.

etudeglitter21

Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream.

etudeglitter22

But I mixed it up.

I used #05 with Blueberry Ice Cream.

etudeglitter26

This is one coat.

etudeglitter23

Two coats.

etudeglitter24

Three coats.

etudeglitter25

I used #06 with Strawberry Ice Cream.

etudeglitter27

One coat.

etudeglitter28

Three coats.

etudeglitter29

And I used #07 with Berry Ice Cream.

etudeglitter30

One coat.

etudeglitter31

Three coats.

etudeglitter32

I stopped at three.

etudeglitter33

Playing with these bottles wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t layer them over black.

So I let Illamasqua Boosh, one of my favorite blacks, join the fun.

etudeglitter34

Here’s how #05, #06 and #07 look when layered over black.

etudeglitter35

Pretty.

etudeglitter36

Now here’s how a mix of all three look when layered over black.

etudeglitter41

Oh yes, it’s insane.

etudeglitter42

INSANE.

etudeglitter43

I was surprised at how much I loved it, since I normally don’t go nuts for glitter.

etudeglitter38

One thing I noticed about these glitter bombs from Etude House is that the clear base turns your polish matte. Not a flat, chalky matte – the finish becomes more like satin. I didn’t mind though since I was going to layer Seche Vite over the mani anyway.

etudeglitter46

I loved this mani so much that I ended up doing all my nails right before an evening of dinner and bowling with friends. My friends loved it – yes, even the men.

etudeglitter45

And my Instagram friends loved it too.

Each bottle of glitter is ₱128.

Hi Miss Pam! I’ve been following your polish blog for quite some time now and I’m more than psyched that my favorite nail blog is now embracing glitter as much as I do. :D Here’s what I did with my nails last Christmas hihi http://leaplikelinda.tumblr.com/post/2457255829/my-glittergasmic-christmas-nails-as-you-may-have ..It was a bit messy but I wanted it to be really glittery :)

The Etude glitters look gorgeous especially with the black base. REALLY REALLY PRETTY! And the instagram picture is very cute. :)

I love your glittery nails!!! My aversion to glitter still rears its head from time to time but I’m learning to love it more and more..

I’m amazed at how much attention glittery nails get outside, even from non-fans of polish… Pretty cool :)
