MUG SHOT: The Majolica Majorca Swatchfest continues

August 1, 2011 by pam

Remember the first Majolica Majorca swatchfest? Yes, when I swatched the colors from the Japanese brand’s Speedy and Glossy nail polish line?

Let’s continue the fun with the shades from Majolica Majorca’s Glow and Quick and Jeweling lines, most of which were made for layering and nail art.

These are the colors from the Glow and Quick line.

And these are the shades from the Jeweling line.

I will show you how these colors look when worn with the shades from the Speedy and Glossy line.

The colors from the Glow and Quick line are mostly glittery jellies that are great for wearing over creams. I know some polish fans like wearing jellies on their own but since I don’t wear sheer colors, I like layering my jellies.

This is GR615, a gorgeous green that’s one my favorites from the Speedy and Glossy collection.

gr615 - 5

And this is GR615 with a layer of GR102 from the Glow and Quick Line.

gr615+gr102 2

GR102 is a blue-green jelly with iridescent glitter.

gr615+gr102 3

I love this combination. So pretty.

This is BE113, a soft creamy beige.

be113 - 4

And this is BE218, a peachy beige frost.

be218 - 2

I thought these two shades would go perfectly with BE115.

be113 + be115 - 8

Yeah, I think I was right.

be218 + be115 - 1

BE115 is a shimmery gold polish with iridescent silver glitter.

be113 + be115 9

I love the extra sparkle from BE115.

be218 + be115 - 3

This is OR213, another one of my favorites – maybe my most favorite – from the Speedy and Glossy line.

or213 - 7

And this is OR213 with OR203.

or203 + or213 - 1

OR203 is a lovely tangerine jelly with iridescent silver sparkle.

or203 + or213 - 5

I love love love this combination. So much that I want to post one more picture.

or203 + or213 - 7

This is PK412. Yes, another one of my favorites from the Speedy and Glossy line. I can’t help it, I have a lot of favorites.

pk412 - 9

And this is PK412 with PK401 on top.

pk412 + pk401 - 4

PK401 is a hot pink jelly with silver iridescent glitter.

pk412 + pk401 2

I love this combination too.

Now here’s where it gets a little weird. Among the shimmery sheer colors in the Glow and Quick line is a non-shimmer, non-sheer wonder.

This is RD420.

rd420 - 1

RD420 is a gorgeous red.

rd420 2

I love it. I used two coats.

rd420 4

I made the mistake of layering BL501 on top of RD420.

rd420 + bl501 1

BL501′s magic completely covered the red.

This dark blue jelly with gold flecks and blue-green sparkle deserves its own post and that’s what it will get.

It’s gorgeous. And the possibilities are endless – because it works on its own and as a top coat.

rd420 + bl501 4

Here’s a close-up.

rd420 + bl501 3

So pretty.

And now I’ll show you the colors from the Jeweling Line. All five colors come with really thin brushes – they are really made for nail art.

And because my nail art skills are practically nonexistent, I used these colors for funky tips. But you can use them for anything – dots, gradation manicures, stripes and more.

This is PK217 – a soft, shimmery pink.

pk217 - 2

This is PK217 with VI494 on top.

pk217 + vi494 - 1

VI494 is purple glitter polish with larger holographic glitter.

pk217 + vi494 - 5

I decided to try one more combination.

This is VI311 – yes another Speedy and Glossy favorite.

vi311 - 3

And this is VI311 with VI494 on the tips.

vi311 + vi 494 1

Yeah, I like this combination more.

vi311 + vi 494 5

This is PK400, a glittery pink jelly from the Speedy and Glossy Line.

pk400 - 3

I added SV891 on the tips.

pk400 +sv891 1

But sadly, the pink overpowered the pretty silver glitter.

pk400 +sv891 3

This is GR714. I love this green from the Speedy and Glossy line.

gr714 - 4

I used GD892 on the tips.

gr714 + gd892 1

Pretty. I love the gold glitter. But my tip-painting skills seriously need work.

gr714 + gd892 3

This is BK999, a sexy black, that’s also from Majolica Majorca’s Speedy and Glossy line.

bk999 - 5

It looks great on its own but it’s pretty cool with WT990 tips too.

bk999 + wt990 - 6

The combination made the white shimmer look more silvery.

bk999 + wt990 - 3

This pretty pink is PK411.

pk411 - 6

I added BL555, a bright blue glitter, on the tips.

pk411 - blue5

I like this combination. It’s a happy mani.

pk411 - blue3

Pretty.

pk411 - blue8

Girl, how are your cuticles so pretty still after all that swatching?! Mine gets really beat up and the dry heat here doesn’t help. :( Love your swatches!

    • pam says:

Kitty! Naku mine get dry too! Kaya nga I stopped swatching and rested for a couple of days.. I’ve been bad pa naman with applying Lemony Flutter lately, I’ve been neglecting it.. Pero I just drowned my cuticles in them now.. Which means I can swatch again.. Haha :)

  2. kat says:

Those combos are all awesome… especially loving the funky tips!

  3. Cindy says:

I love the last combination, pink and blue, very pretty!

  4. Eugenia says:

Colour me impressed…..that was some follow-up post! Magnificent! Seriously, while they all look fabulous (and I do believe that your swatching skills may have some part in that!), as the seasons change, I find that I’m all about the deeper tones, and yet that red is just screaming S-E-X-Y to me!! Nothing better than a killer red shade to perk up the morale! You did it again, Pam!!!

    • pam says:

Aww! Eugenia! You’re so sweet! So true, killer reds are just awesome! I’m glad fall is fast approaching – it’s my favorite time of the year (even though we don’t have fall here in the philippines) – and my taste in polish reflects that..
