MUG SHOT: The (a-england) magic continues with Iseult, Excalibur, Galahad and Camelot

July 11, 2011 by pam

I know, I know, Polish Police is beginning to look like an a-england blog. But I can’t help it. I’m really in love with this brand.

And can you blame me? No, you can’t. Because you’re probably in love with it too.

I recently tried four more shades from the collection and yes, I love them all.

ae2

Excalibur, Iseult, Galahad, Camelot

ae4

Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty

Let’s start with Iseult.

ae5

Iseult was named after the beautiful princess who had a legendary love potion-induced tragic but romantic affair with the knight Tristam.

ae6

Adina Bodana, the creative genius behind a-england, describes this shade as “delicate romantic pink with opalescent pearly reflection.”

ae7

And that description is perfect. Iseult is a soft pretty pink with subtle shimmer.

ae9

I think it’s gorgeous.

ae12

Most of a-england’s colors are two-coaters but I used three coats for this one to completely even it out.

ae8

I wore this for a few days and couldn’t stop staring at my nails.

ae11

They made my hands look sophisticated and completely ladylike.

ae10

I normally don’t go crazy about pinks but Iseult has me wrapped around her legendary finger.

ae14

And here is Iseult with Essie Matte Top Coat.

ae15

With a matte top coat, Iseult becomes powdery pink.

ae16

I love how smooth it looks.

ae18

Love.

ae17

Here’s Excalibur.

ae19

It’s gorgeous even in the bottle.

ae20

Excalibur was named after the legendary and powerful sword of King Arthur.

ae21

Adina describes this as “majestic silver platinum.”

ae22

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while now, then you know about my problems with silver. I’ve been trying but I just couldn’t find a wearable silver polish. I was convinced that silver metallics looked awful on me.

ae25

I think a-england has ended my search.

ae27

Because I can totally wear Excalibur.

ae28

Wear it and rock it.

ae30

Rock it and love it.

ae31

I used two coats for this one.

ae24

Thank you, a-england, for bringing silver into my life.

ae32

And yes, I couldn’t help myself, I had to mattify Excalibur too.

ae34

And it looked awesome.

ae35

Still silvery but more flat.

ae38

I can totally see Jake rocking this as a pedicure.

ae36

And now, Galahad.

ae39

Named after Galahad, Lancelot’s son who was known as the pure and perfect knight.

ae41

Adina describes this as “mystic vibrant blue green.”

ae42

I’m a teal girl. I’m crazy about blue green.

ae43

Even as a little girl, when I declared pink and purple as my favorite colors, my most treasured Crayola crayon was blue green.

ae46

And when it came to polish, I went through a huge teal phase, buying all the teals I could find.

ae47

I was worried that Galahad would look similar to the numerous teals in my collection but I shouldn’t have been.

ae50

Because while most of them leaned green, Galahad leans blue.

ae51

Blue and beautiful.

ae52

The formula was fantastic – super smooth and glossy.

ae49

I used two coats.

Mattified Galahad is gorgeous too. It kept its vibrance.

ae53

It was insanely smooth.

ae54

I couldn’t stop touching it.

ae58

There’s nothing dull about this matte.

ae59

And now, Camelot.

ae60

This shade was named after King Arthur’s castle and majestic court.

ae61

Adina describes this as “black onix glaze with unique luster.”

ae62

I have a mad love affair with black nail polish which I chronicled here, in my love letter to black nail polish.

ae63

And, like Adina, if you forced me to choose just one color to wear for the rest of my life, I would go for a glossy black cream.

ae64

And pre-a-england, if you made me choose just one black polish, I’d probably go for Chanel Black Satin or Illamasqua Boosh. But that answer has changed.

ae68

I would choose Camelot.

ae69

This amazing glossy black is a one-coater. The formula was fantastic, as we’ve come to expect from a-england.

ae70

And I’m normally stubborn when it comes to one-coaters – I always always still go for two.

ae71

But not this time.

ae73

Matte Camelot was going to look fantastic, I was sure of it.

ae79

And I wasn’t disappointed.

ae76

Gorgeous.
