I thought I was over grays, I really did.
I spent many weeks (maybe months) obsessing over gray polish and ended up amassing quite a big collection of concrete-colored lacquer.
But lately, I’ve been swooning over brights – reds, pinks, corals, oranges – and I thought I was over my gray phase. But someone brought me back.
François NARS.
For his Fall 2011 Collection, François created Galion.
NARS has this to say about the limited edition shade: “This deep gray nail polish creates a luxe smoky look.”
Although it cannot be seen in the final picture, model Mariacarla Boscono wore Galion on her fingers for the Fall 2011 campaign shoot which was shot by François.

Thanks to our awesome friends at Rustan’s, which will be carrying NARS Fall 2011 Collection in September, we can get an even closer look at Galion.
Galion is part of a collection that NARS describes as “resolutely avant-garde.”
The collection offers a mix of daring colors and subtle tones and Galion is meant to add “a mysterious finishing touch.”
François said, “Galion is dark and moody and lends edginess to any look.”
When I opened the NARS bag that magically landed in my lap last Thursday and pulled out the bottle of polish inside, my heart skipped a beat.
It was love at first sight for me and Galion.
It was love at first swatch too.
Galion is totally my kind of color – dark, smoky, edgy.
NARS describes the shade as stormy gray.
But it’s clear that there’s a lot of blue in it too.
I asked two friends, “What color am I wearing?”
One friend said, “Blue black.”
Another said, “Blue gray.”
NARS is a smoky blue-tinged dark gray cream.
It’s gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.
I think it’s sexy too.
And here’s the best part – the formula is fantastic.
It’s super pigmented and super smooth, creamy and glossy.
I used two quick and easy coats.
I took Galion out for a little sun and the sun loves it too.
But not as much as I do.
How much do I love Galion? I’m going out for a nice dinner with friends tonight and I will be wearing it.
And it’s been ages since I last wore the same shade on my fingers and toes – but Galion also looks like the perfect pedicure color so I couldn’t resist.
Clearly I’m not over grays, not at all.

It reminds me of Misa’s Office Polish-tics and Dior’s Perfecto… but a tad blue-er. AND PERFECT.
Sadly, I will probably not be able to get my hands on this beauty since I’ll be in Beijing for 5 months – I’ll tell you in email, Chief! All the polishes I’ll be missing! ARR

Haha! I have zero makeup skills. I did my own makeup tonight though (and for me that just means a lip and cheek stain and a lot of eyeliner)..
Painting your nails is easy, I promise! I used to think I couldn’t do it too! But just a few weeks of practice made a huge difference!

It does look bluer (and darker) on the nails than it does in the bottle
But I really love it – I love it so much that when I went to a spa to get my nails done today, I had them paint my nails with Galion again – even though that’s what I was wearing when I arrived.. haha

I’ve seen those Coach sets on Ebay but I don’t have them.. They were given as freebies ata when you buy stuff at Coach stores but the last couple of times I went, they didn’t have them anymore..

oh, I just love Nars, he comes up with the best colors and MariaCarla is one of my favorite “faces”, her look is so unique and intriguing, not to mention Mediterranean which I feel is rare in modeling. Anyways, I really like this color polish and normally do not like grays at all for nails. It reminds me of the color of those cats called Blue Russians.
