We are still in the middle of our crazy road trip and I am writing this while sitting on a hotel room floor in Bryce Valley in Utah.
It’s been a great trip so far and while I haven’t gone crazy shopping for polish like I have on my previous trips, I still have a lot of polish-related stories to share. But they will have to wait. Because that’s not what this post is for.
Today I’m taking a break from my break to bring you news from Zoya.
I’m a Zoya fan – I love that their shades are long-lasting and that they’re free of harmful chemicals including toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and dibutyl phthalate (DBP).
Zoya will be releasing three limited edition shades very soon. The three colors, which make up Zoya’s Touch Collection, were inspired by the custom looks Zoya developed for the runways of New York Fashion Week. The three are all full coverage nudes.
I think the collection is coming out at the perfect time. I know I’ve spent my entire life loving vampy colors on my nails but my taste has changed these past couple of months. It’s weird how I’ve been obsessing over nudes, corals, pinks and reds lately but I have no plans of fighting it. If my nails want sexy nudes – I will give them sexy nudes. And this is why I’m so psyched for Zoya’s new collection.
This is Minka (latte beige cream with a metallic kiss).

This is Shay (desert rose sand beige cream with a metallic kiss).

And this is Pandora (mauve beige cream with a metallic kiss).

They are all so pretty, I can’t pick a favorite. And I know my nude-obsessed friend Tatin will agree with me.

Swatches will be posted soon, once I leave the mountains and return to the city.
Zoya is accepting pre-orders until May 31. The Touch Collection will be available on Zoya.com starting June 1. If you’re in the US, order from Zoya.com, if you’re in the UK or other parts of Europe, go to Zoyapolish.co.uk, if you’re in Italy, visit Zoyacolors.com. If you’re in the Philippines, you can order them through OrganicRituals Spa. Each one costs $8.

Forgive me for the lack of updates. Things have been insanely busy these past weeks – I had a ton of deadlines, I got sick, Bieber arrived – and things are only bound to get crazier because I’m leaving for a quick break tomorrow.
But I know I couldn’t leave without blogging – because many exciting things are happening for nail polish fans here in Manila.
Ready? Here we go.
Chanel’s Summer Collection is finally in Rustan’s. Each bottle is P1350. I already have my bottle of Morning Rose (I bought it from the awesome Aica of UrbanMD – she’s super nice, super efficient and the polish came gift-wrapped with a sweet little note) and my bottle of Mimosa has also arrived from the US (thanks to my friend Lele who is keeping it safe for me).

Rescue Beauty’s Bring It Back colors are now up on the website. If you don’t have Purple Haze, get it now. It’s gorgeous. Get Bikini Bottom too. And Bruised. And Black Russian. And Stormy. They’re all beautiful. And if you still don’t have the spring colors – Insouciant, Iconoclast, Recherche and Decorous – get them too. You know they won’t be around forever. And they’re lovely lovely lovely.

Got Crack? Etude House does. And this is awesome news for people searching for crackle polish. These bottles will be available by last week of May or first week of June. And speaking of Etude House – the matte polishes are available there now. Grab them, they’re great. Watch out for my long post about Etude House’s flagship store opening in Megamall.

This is the blue crack over Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream and Santee Vikini Green.

Holy moly, Tony Moly! Tony Moly is finally in the Philippines! I love Tony Moly. I have a number of bottles from Tony Moly, some were gifts from my friends Lele and Tatin, others were purchased for me by friends who visited Hong Kong and Korea. I got a lovely surprise today – a bag of Tony Moly products.

They have great stuff for nail polish fanatics.
Like the dry nail appliqué from the Nail Art Collection. There are a lot of different designs. I promise to post swatches soon – I will bring one of these sets on my trip.

I got really excited about these nail polish bottles. Check out the caps – the little cracks in the design made me think that this was crackle polish. That would have been enough to make me happy – but I was wrong.

When I tried them on, I went, “Holy crap, Tats, these aren’t cracking!” But they cracked. Slowly. Way slower than any crackle polish I’ve tried. And when they cracked, the cracks were crazy fine. And I went, “Holy crap, Tats, these are cool!”
I finally realized what the SN in the polish name meant. Snake Nails. These aren’t your regular crackle polish – they’re snake polish.

Freaking cool.

Love love love.

But here’s the strange thing – I’ve seen promo pics of Snake Nails and in the promo pics, they look like regular crackle. Weird.
But I’m glad they look like this on me.

Tony Moly has a store in SM Fairview now – and stores will open in SM Megamall, SM North Edsa, SM Makati soon.
And there you go.
I have about 12 hours left before my flight and I still haven’t packed so I have to go. I will be back soon – with a ton of swatches and more nail polish news.
And if you want to see what I’m wearing on my nails, check out my 31 Days of Nails on CandyMag.com.

I am momentarily leaving my flu cocoon to bring you a very special Rap Sheet.
It’s Mother’s Day and I thought it was the perfect time to put the spotlight on one of my favorite moms – Jenni Epperson. Jenni is an inspiration to me. I love how she’s able to balance her career, her family and her social life. She juggles her responsibilities as fashion editor, celebrity stylist, blogger and entrepreneur but always makes time for her husband Tom and kids Aryanna and Dylan, having fun with them, prettifying their home and cooking great food they can enjoy. And she makes it look so effortless. What’s even more awesome is how she’s inspiring other moms to do the same with her blog.

Jenni is a nail polish fan too – and I love that we share that passion (remember our Chocolate Cakes story?).
In this edition of Rap Sheet, Jenni talks about her love for polish and her favorite brands and nail polish shades.
Favorite nail polish/brand:
Essie and Chanel

Top five favorite nail polish colors:
Essie “Wickedly Delicious” collection — that’s five colors already! LOL
Chanel “Splendeur” – in my opinion, it’s the only fuchsia nail polish you’ll ever need.
Essie “Fifth Avenue” – the name speaks for itself — it’s the nail polish of fashion lovers, plus the best red orange hue I’ve tried.
Zoya “Kelly” – this was a gift from, uhm, you! It’s my favorite gray tint! Thanks again!
Laura Mercier “Avant Guarde” nail lacquer – it’s my all-time favorite deep purple polish!
Essie “Chocolate Cakes” – because the color is “finger-lickin’ good!” It also has a sentimental value for me as I found the last three bottles at Essenses, Rustan’s! I’m also on a “brown” phase right now, and this color is the perfect reddish brown for me.

How big is your nail polish collection?
What collection? Haha!
I’m a newbie when it comes to nail polish. I used to apply whatever my manicurist had in her beauty basket. Thanks to you, I’m slowly building a collection! Still, I find myself buying almost the same colors like, deep purples, reds, red-oranges, grays, and baby pinks.
Where do you usually buy them?
Essenses and Rustan’s
Where do you get your nails done?
Henri Calayag Salon, Nail Spa, and home service
How often do you change your nail polish color?
Once a week or whenever a beauty day permits.
Nail polish/manicure/pedicure pet peeves:
Dirty tools. Ew.
How do you take care of your nails?
I let them “rest” for a few weeks when they start to discolor from wearing nail polish.
Any favorite nail treatment or product?
I like using a nail strengthener base. I buy O•P•I• Natural Nail Strengthener Base.
What’s your favorite nail polish remover?
O•P•I• Polish Remover with Aloe Vera because of its moisturizing formula.
If you can only wear one shade every day, what will it be?
Hands down, deep purple! \m/
Any tips for other nail polish junkies?
Don’t be one! Haha! Collecting polish is crazy! Buying the entire collection per season can be expensive. Choose your favorites and use them till they run out. Share your nail polish with friends. It’s economical and more fun that way.

You know I’ve been dying to get my hands on Dior’s Rock Your Nails Collection.
And when I received the text on Thursday telling me that it was already available in Rustan’s, I knew it was meant to be – because I was already on my way there. (I was actually on my way to Shang for a photo shoot pullout but Rustan’s is in Shang so yeah – I was still on my way there.)
All six bottles in the collection were there along with a lot of pretty pinks and reds. Here’s the weird thing – these past days I’ve started obsessing over pinks, reds, neutrals and lighter, brighter colors. Neutrals?! Light colors? I couldn’t believe it myself. It’s probably the summer heat. But I had to tear myself away from the pretty bright pinks to focus on Rock Your Nails.
I bought two bottles – Nirvana and of course, Rock Coat.

This is Nirvana.

Dior describes it as a gray green.

But it really looks teal to me.

It’s a pretty color. Once upon a time, I was obsessed with this color.

Rock Coat is a smoky top coat meant to give your nail colors a vampier edgier look.
It’s a sheer black polish.
I painted two nails with Rock Coat so you can see how it can change Nirvana.

It looked good to me.

So I painted over every nail with Rock Coat.

I like the way Nirvana looks with Rock Coat.

Rock Coat turned Nirvana into a much deeper jade green.

It made an already pretty color a lot more interesting.

And I know it was interesting because I caught my male friends arguing over what my nail color was while we were having dinner.

Nirvana and Rock Coat both get a thumbs up for me. And now I regret not picking up the rest of the collection.
I will – soon – if Sol still left some behind.
Dior’s Rock Your Nails Collection is now available at Rustan’s at ₱1200 per bottle. Hurry – stocks are limited.
