I have a favorite memory with Jenni – eating salpicao in our room at Nami in Boracay at two in the morning.
I adore Jenni – Jenni who makes the best jalapeno poppers in the world, Jenni who is the awesome mom of beautiful Aryanna and adorable Dylan, Jenni who lives and breathes style, Jenni who rocks my world every single day with her blog on fashion, food and family. In a world of nega blogs, her space is a ray of sunshine, a place of positivity.
Last week, Jenni posted about Essie’s Wickedly Delicious Collection and asked me where she could find Chocolate Cakes.
I was challenged. I had four out of the six colors in the collection – Lady Godiva, Decadent Diva, Wicked and Licorice. Why did I not have Chocolate Cakes?
And, more importantly, why haven’t I heard of it before?
I checked Transdesign, it wasn’t there. I Googled, and strangely no one has posted swatches of it. But I found Chocolate Kisses on Transdesign. And I found Chocolate Kisses swatches online. So maybe Jenni meant Chocolate Kisses and not Chocolate Cakes?
But there were bottles on Ebay. And some random e-tailers. So Chocolate Cakes did exist. But where could we find it?
It turns out the answer was Rustan’s. Jenni went out and did some shopping and found Essie Chocolate Cakes at Essenses.
There were three bottles left – and she grabbed them all. And if you thought Chocolate Cakes couldn’t get sweeter, you’re wrong.
Jenni posted on Twitter:
@jenniepperson: Dear @turbochicken, guess what I got you?
And a couple of days later, Chocolate Cakes arrived.
Ahh, love.
Rich, dark and sexy.
I couldn’t wait to try Chocolate Cakes.
That evening, I changed my mani before going out for drinks to celebrate my friend Le’s birthday.
Chocolate Cakes is a gorgeous red-based brown.
It really is the color of chocolate cake.
I used two coats on some nails, three on others.
Pretty pretty pretty.
It was funny, at the bar, while telling a story, Le (also a polish fanatic) had to stop me to ask who did my nails.
I did, I said. I talk with my hands a lot and she said she kept getting distracted by my nails.
But that’s not my nail skills. That’s the power of Chocolate Cakes.
The next morning, I saw Chocolate Cakes under the sun and loved Chocolate Cakes even more.
I love that Chocolate Cakes is so glossy you can actually see the reflection of the clouds on my thumb. How crazy is that?
Thank you, Jenni, for bringing Chocolate Cakes into my life.
(And I think I’ve figured out the mystery. Chocolate Cakes and Chocolate Kisses both have the same code number – 252 – so maybe they’re exactly the same? I like the name Chocolate Cakes more though.)
I was so touched by Jenni’s sweet surprise that I sent some love back – for her and her amazingly artistic daughter Aryanna.
Now here’s the awesome part. You too can get your own bottle of Chocolate Cakes from Jenni.
It’s easy. Just follow her on Twitter and RT her tweet about Chocolate Cakes. Good luck!
