POLICE FILES: Goodies from the magical Miss Bun (!!!!!!!!!!!)

September 4, 2010 by pam

One of the best things about having a nail blog is meeting kindred souls who totally get your madness for nail polish. My love for polish is of an intensity that a lot of “normal” people wouldn’t get and it’s a relief to be able to spend time here, unabashedly talk talk talking about all things polish.

It was right on this page that I met Miss Bun who has been rocking my world ever since.

I can’t believe we only started talking weeks ago. I feel like I’ve known her for ages and ages.

But a few weeks is all it took for me to realize that Miss Bun is, without a doubt, my nail polish twin. SERIOUSLY.

And it’s not just our love for our shorties and our mad passion for Chanel. We just totally get each other. But here’s the crazy part – we can’t go shopping for nail polish together and we can’t hit nail spas together. Because she lives in Hong Kong and I live in Manila.

But there are ways two polish junkies can kick those miles in the ass. We started putting together polish packages for each other. It wasn’t a swap, no it wasn’t, because we didn’t even talk about what we were sending each other.

Miss Bun and I just basically stalked each other’s wish lists in our quest to surprise each other. But I had a good ace up my sleeve. My beloved friends Jason and Momon were going to Hong Kong and I had asked them to bring my package for Miss Bun so she wouldn’t have to wait too long for her goodies.

And here’s what was so awesome about the whole thing. They didn’t just do a quick package exchange, Miss Bun actually spent time hanging out with Jason and Momon and they loved her.

So freaking cool.

Jason and Momon got home from their trip yesterday. Jill, Tatin and I met up with them for dinner and a movie and there, at dinner, they handed me my package from Miss Bun along with other treats they brought home from Hong Kong (Vanity Fair with Lady Gaga on the cover (Waking Up In Vegas, holy crap!), notebook and pens from Muji (paper fetish!), Puccho candy (!!!) and Lego minifigs (OMG minifigs!!! I think J and Momon were taken aback by the reaction those minifigs got from us. LOL)

Tatin, who loves packages, took one look at the box and said, “Open it.”

But I can’t, I told her, because I wanted to document the unboxing and I didn’t have a camera with me.

Use my phone, she said, and at first I had my doubts but man oh man oh man, the iPhone4′s camera rocks. It rocks so hard I might just steal Tatin’s phone.

I opened the box and my jaw dropped.

So many goodies! And so prettily packaged! I didn’t know which one to open first.

I grabbed this first.

Oh my god, a duck! I love ducks! Sometimes I feel like a freaking duck! But what is it?

Goodies from Miss Bun

Duck clips! So freaking cute!

And then I saw this and my heart just pounded.

Chanel Or De Russie

Wait, this deserves a close-up.

Chanel Or De Russie

I love how carefully wrapped it was.

Chanel Or De Russie

Miss Bun even tied a velvet leopard print ribbon around the bottle for extra protection and extra prettiness.

Chanel Or De Russie

And suddenly, there it was.

Chanel Or De Russie

Chanel Or De Russie, more beautiful than I imagined. Chanel Or De Russie, which I’ve been lemming so bad for so long, Or De Russie, which I thought I would never own.

Chanel Or De Russie

I still can’t believe Miss Bun gave this to me.

And that’s not all.

What’s in the blue bag? I wondered. I reached into it and found this:

And Miss Bun is right. Anna Sui is love.

I was so amazed at how Miss Bun managed to choose the very same colors I would have chosen myself. She really is my nail polish twin.

She also got me PA nail polish which I haven’t heard of but instantly loved!

I loved the little post-it notes Miss Bun wrote. I love post-its! How did she know?!

And then.. Crispy Mint M&Ms! I love mint chocolate!

And I also love this Hello Kitty Instax pic of Miss Bun.

And here’s where it gets crazy. The movie we were watching was about to start. I had to stop the unboxing midway.

Can you imagine how hard that was? Closing the box when there were so many pretties still waiting to be opened?

We watched Going The Distance and we enjoyed it. After the movie, we headed for Starbucks where the unboxing continued.

More goodies:

So adorable!

And to cushion the package, Miss Bun put in these soft fluffy fur balls which I love love love.

More cuteness to cushion awesomeness? Who does that?! Only the magical Miss Bun.

It’s like she has a PhD in preparing killer packages.

Oh god, Pretty Edgy. I’ve been lemming this for a while now. Oh Essie, you make such a sexy green, why don’t you make more greens?

And my jaw dropped. First at the little bird on the bottle cap then at the mini Chupa Chups!

Essie Pretty Edgy

I love Chupa Chups and I don’t think I posted that anywhere and I am almost 30 years old and I still love lollipops… how did Miss Bun know?!

Bermuda Shorts, a neon purple. And a sweet pussycat. And again, Chupa Chups! Meow!

Essie Bermuda Shorts

Turquoise & Caicos… OMG.

So pretty… and another mini Chupa Chups! And that bunny! Lord, have you seen anything so cute? It’s looking at me and going, “Wear me, please wear me now.”

Turquoise & Caicos

If I end up wearing nothing but Turquoise & Caicos the whole year, you have this cute little bunny to blame.

But wait!

This little puppy wants attention too. Lapis of Luxury, sigh. Love it.

Essie Lapis of Luxury

And what I loved the most about the adorable animal stickers is how they will continue to remind me of Miss Bun even after these Essies have joined my other Essies.

And now…. I might need to get some paperwork done because my birthday is still a little over a month away but Miss Bun just moved it to September.

And she did it with this… Deborah Lippmann’s Happy Birthday.

Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday

Glitter confetti. Party in the bottle. Love and sparkle. It’s been my plan for months to buy this before my birthday so I can wear it when I turn 30 but now I don’t have to, Miss Bun did it for me.

And now my biggest problem isn’t the paperwork, it’s resisting the urge to use this before October 14.

Oh yes, it will take all of my will power.

Thank you, Miss Bun. For this awesome awesome awesome package and, more importantly, your friendship.

It’s crazy how well you already know me after just a few weeks – and I don’t just mean your uncanny knack for choosing things that I instantly love.

I look forward to more polish adventures with you. And watch out for package two because it will be KILLAH.

Now I need to go play with my new babies.
