I was having a really bad day. A solid 9 on the Bad Day Richter Scale.
I got inside the car, ready to bawl my eyes out, when I saw a colorful bag in the backseat. It was from Tatin Yang, makeup artist slash writer slash gadget addict. She was recently in Hong Kong for a makeup fair and because she knows how crazy I am about polish, she brought home some goodies for me.
At the fair they previewed OPI’s special Hong Kong line which will be part of their Spring/Summer 2010 collection. These bottles are to be released February next year and because they wouldn’t sell Tatin any, she did the best next thing – she brought home the brochures.
The Hong Kong Collection has me drooling. Let’s take a closer look.
Bling Dynasty (“A char-”ming” gold that shimmers and glimmers”), Red My Fortune Cookie (“And this rich red is in my future”), Hot & Spicy (“A sizzling coral that’s a kung pao wow!”), Dim Sum Plum (“A berry delectable delicacy”)
Jade is the New Black (“The vibrant green is the new fashion vibe”), Suzi Says Feng Shui (A serene cobalt blue to balance your yin yang), A Good Man-darin Is Hard To Find (“But you’ve found it – in this zesty red-orange!”), Lucky Lucky Lavender (“Be pretty and prosperous in this luscious light purple”).
Meet Me On The Star Ferry (“A Kowloon-lit, moonlit violet”), Panda-monium Pink (“Lend a panda a hand-a in this uproarious light pink”), Pearl of Wisdom (“Smart girls choose this lustrous pearl shade”), Chop-sticking to My Story (I mean it- “pick up” this warm caramel shade)
I am especially excited about Jade is the New Black, A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find and Chop-sticking to My Story. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Rustans will bring these colors in.
The bag Tatin sent also included a wrapped package.
Inside was an OPI button which she also got from the fair.
And a Peach Juice AvoJuice Skin Quencher from OPI.
And the best part of the lot, a bottle of Tony Moly Party Lover Nail Enamel. (Photo taken without flash.)
This is my first bottle of Tony Moly. Tony Moly is a Korean brand. I’d love to link to their website but it seems to have malware problems. I found bottles on Ebay and they have some interesting colors which I will try to hunt down. (Photo taken with flash.)
Tony Moly calls this shade Deep Sea Green. I call it blue green and it reminds me of my favorite crayon color when I was a kid.
(Photo taken without flash.) Application was easy considering that one, I suck at applying polish and two, I did this inside a moving car. I needed to do three coats for opacity.
I always thought I would never be able to rock green polish but Tatin proved me wrong.
I love this color and I’ve been carrying the bottle around because I’m waiting for the chance to get a proper manicure and pedicure.
Thanks Tatin, OPI and Tony Moly for brightening up my crappy day.
